in the 2019 Presidential Election Debate, Prabowo Team Affirms Not Worried about Human Rights Issues
Fakta Id. The Chairperson of the Prabowo-Sandiaga National Winning Body (BPN), Djoko Santoso, stressed that his party was not worried about human rights issues which would become one of the debate material for the 2019 presidential election by the General Election Commission (KPU).
According to Djoko, the issue of human rights is only a political commodity that always arises ahead of the presidential election. The proof, when Prabowo became the partner of Megawati Soekarnoputri in the 2009 presidential election, did not appear.
"Why did Prabowo pair up with Megawati when this issue was not there?" Djoko said in a written statement on Friday.
In the discussion on 'Chat Together with Joksan' in the Tebet area, Jakarta, Thursday, he stressed that the Prabowo-Sandi pair was always ready to answer the issue during the presidential debate.
"We have prepared it, whether it is conveying the presidential and vice presidential candidates, does the team, we see who delivered it, we have prepared it, even on January 17 the first debate," he said.
Djoko also highlighted the issue of ideal moderators in the debate. He said the moderator must be independent and not leaning on one presidential vice-presidential candidate pair. In addition, the debate must be broadcast live on all television stations so that the public can objectively assess the two candidates.
"The moderator said from the media, it was decided tomorrow Friday (today), which is important independently," Djoko said.
"We propose that all televisions can broadcast live. So that they can close each other. If this one point (the signal or the show) is strong in the Jakarta area, the others can close, so that's how it will be," concluded Djoko Santoso.
The KPU had previously set a 2019 presidential and vice presidential debate schedule. The KPU determined five debates based on an agreement with the respective candidate pairs campaign team. The five debates will be held in Jakarta.
